It's hard to believe we're in the final few weeks of summer! Besides the hectic and unpleasant move at the end of June, I'd say it's been good. In addition to New Braunfels, we had a few other things going on.
Okay, so even the move had its moments. Michael was delighted when we let him ride in the moving truck cabin for short trips. He thought it was so cool and would dance in excitement! I'm thankful that during that stressful time, we had some happy moments.
Birthday Celebrations
Michael has just one birthday a year, of course, but it usually ends up being celebrated a few times. Michael had two parties. One was with family in Groves.
What a blast we had at both!
On Michael's actual birthday, Michael and I had lunch at IHOP (Michael request #1). We went out for dinner at Golden Corral (Michael request #2) with Mimi. And a silly string fight as well (Michael request #3).

Swimming
Michael has gained confidence in the water, but swim lessons have been very challenging for him too. Michael and I have been going to the pool on most days, and he gets to go swimming when we visit in Groves.
Kangaroo Kamp
Before the move, Michael attended a first grade preparatory program with Fort Bend ISD. He really seemed to enjoy it, and the journal he kept was lots of fun to read!
Zoofari (Zoo Camp)
Michael also went to a week-long day camp at the Houston Zoo. He got to do all the fun things the zoo has...ride the carousel, feed the giraffes, see the new gorilla exhibit, and so much more. He came home each day loaded with new knowledge about predators and prey and animal habitats. He asked to take a camera, so I got him disposable cameras for a couple of days. We're still waiting for them to be developed, but I wonder what he took pictures of!
Baseball
My friend Jessica won tickets to an Astros baseball game, and she invited Michael, David, and me to join her. Otherwise, we've just been watching the games on TV. It's been a fun season.
We also managed to get to a Sugar Land Skeeters before we moved. It was Disney Day, so there were Disney princesses visiting with fans. Michael had zero interest in them. He really, really, really wanted to catch a ball.
Library
David joked that I collect library cards, and it's kind of true. One of the last things we did in our old house in Houston was visit the library, attend a story time, and complete the summer reading challenge.
And one of our first acts in the Woodlands was to get a local library card. Michael and I have attended a few programs (including a super fun pizza dough demo), and he completed a second summer reading challenge.
Tennis
Tennis lessons were rained out for a week earlier this summer because of rain, but Michael did get a few lessons before we moved. We also practice together here in the Woodlands.
Getting Cultured
Michael and I went with friends to an outdoor production of Hairspray, Jr. We've had a few visits to Houston museums. And, one of the highlights of the summer for David and me was going to see Garth Brooks & Trisha Yearwood in concert (David's Father's Day present).
So....we've had a busy but fun summer! Even Diego...he got his first hair cut...and he loves his daily walks!
And finally, some cat pics...
