Happy Birthday, Michael!

Look at that sweet, sleeping baby. (June 16.)

Michael turned 1 today! It's hard to believe a year has gone by. Michael has grown from a beautiful newborn to an adorable, willful almost-toddler. Michael amazes me everyday. He has certainly enhanced our lives, and we love him so much!

We went to play group today. Michael kept trying to use James to help him walk. James wasn't quite prepared for that! There was also a charming buddy moment when James put his arm around Michael like a little side hug.

David and I took Michael to Chili's for his birthday dinner. We told the waiter that it was Michael's birthday. He approached us later, unsure if we wanted the free dessert. Uhhhhh....yeah! Fortunately for David and me, Michael shared his birthday dessert with us.

So, Happy Birthday, Michael! We still have two birthday parties this weekend. This kid loves to party!

Sale and Songs on Saturday

I had a garage sale last Saturday, along with my friends Kristen and Nikki. (Michael helped too.) It was successful, and we made some money and got rid of some stuff. Michael kept wanting to climb into our cooler of water. It's Texas, after all, so it's hot and humid!

Cooling Off

Later that evening, we joined some friends and went to see Hotel California, an Eagles cover band. Michael enjoys music and dancing (like his mom)! But, what he really loved was climbing on his folded up stroller. To each his own.

Oh Pickles!

Michael is without a doubt his Uncle Bob's nephew...

David the Sports Writer

David writes in-depth articles about the Houston Astros for The Crawfish Boxes.

www.crawfishboxes.com

The site is part of SBNation, which has just launched a site for Houston sports. It's for the more casual fan. Who did they ask to write about the Astros? That's right...my man. I may not claim him after seeing his goofy profile picture.

Michael stands up video

Well...it didn't take long to get some footage of the boy standing up. I took Michael outside for some fresh air and to play in the puddles after a day of rain. He practiced his standing. He tried to take a step and that was when he lost his balance!

Standin' and Scootin'

Michael stood today on his own. He almost did the same thing on Monday, but today he did it! He starts in his bear crawl position (feet and hands on the floor, but belly is lifted) and pushes himself to standing. He also tries standing from a kneeling position, putting one foot out...like the bottom of a lunge. He's still gaining confidence standing, so it's hard to get on film. Once he is standing, his balance is getting good. He can stand for a good twenty seconds on his own. He still prefers to crawl. He's so quick!

He's also been scooting around on his bottom. It's pretty funny. He'll scoot around to get a toy. I guess that's his lazy crawl!

Memorial Day 2010

We had a nice Memorial Day with David's family in the Woodlands. We had a crawfish and ribs. Michael had some of the ribs, cantaloupe, cauliflower, and potatoes. For dessert, he had a little fruit cobbler. After he finished eating, David's grandpa was holding him, so I could eat. Michael decided he wanted more cobbler, so he helped himself...

I like his priorities.

Michael also got some early birthday presents from his Mimi. One was a little people bus for him to play with over at their house.
