St. Patty's Day at the Nederland Heritage Festival

I had to work on St. Patrick's Day.

But, afterward I met David and Michael at the Nederland Heritage Festival.

Michael LOVED the rides. He told me exactly which rides he wanted to try, and he even indulged me and did a maze. (It ended in a slide.)

Omaha Visit

Michael and I went to Omaha for "Spring Break." We got to see our Omaha family and friends, I did some research, and I defended my Masters thesis (HALLELUJAH!).

My dad was, unfortunately, not at 100% during our visit because he had kidney stones. Still, he was able to move about and be with us (just not tooooo active........)

We went to Mahoney State Park one beautiful afternoon. Michael loved playing on their fun playground. There is an observation tower, and Dad, Bob, Michael, and I climbed up. Beautiful view...made me a little nervous for no good reason to have Michael climb up there...it's just so high!

My friend Megan and I went to the Joslyn Art Museum and the Durham Western Heritage Museum. I also  took Michael out to Gretna to see Mike & Megan's house, and we had a little ice cream party.

I also visited my friend Karen. I didn't realize when I first went over to her house that it was her house, not a new rental! Glad I figured that out so I could appreciate her purchase. Both houses were older homes with beautiful wood built-ins.

Lots of salad on this visit. My mom made her taco salad for our Knightly family dinner, and "Little King" salad for the Vogel get-together. Also got my Jams' coconut chicken salad. And, not salad---got my Runza fix!

No matter how much time I'm in Omaha, it never seems to be enough.

Sesame Street Live

Last weekend, David and I took MDC3 to see Sesame Street Live: Elmo Makes Music in Beaumont.

Sesame Street Live is something I vaguely remember wanting to do as a kid, and it seemed like Michael enjoyed it.

Michael's favorite character is Cookie Monster, and he liked hearing "C is for Cookie" live. Michael sings, "Cookie Cee..."

Like most other kids his age, he likes Elmo. And Eh-Bear (Big Bird).

Also, Grover...David and I often read The Monster at the End of This Book to Michael, and that book features Grover. We both liked that one as kids. And, Grover was on stage too.

Overall, I would say the show was about 20-25 minutes too long for Michael, but he was pointing out his favorite characters and clapping along with the songs. David and I realized that there's a lot of characters on Sesame Street now that we didn't grow up with, but there's still familiar characters.

Waiting for the show to begin. MDC3 had his SS shirt on.

Afterwards, we took our little Cookie Monster to the mall to get a cookie and walk around a bit before dinner. Dinner was at Pei Wei! (Thanks to my brother for the gift card for my birthday!)
